Eight years ago my wife, Kat, and I moved onto 12 acres in the heart of Missouri. Here we built a small chemical-free farm. Our goal was to grow crops without using any chemicals and supplement our income by selling them at farmers markets. Last year we were selling in three local markets. We were able to successfully grow garlic, tomatoes, peppers and microgreens without using any chemicals.
We decided three years ago to add roasting coffee to our mix. Yes, that has nothing to do with chemical-free farming. But it did have something to do with some of the talents and skills I have developed over the past 40 years. We purchased a small coffee roaster and began roasting coffee.
Last year we sold more coffee than anything else and found it difficult to keep up with the work of the farm. With that, we decided to sell the farm with the hope that a young couple or a ministry would purchase the farm and take it to the next level.
Now, why Over the Road Artisan Coffee? Since coffee has become the main product we have decided that as we travel Over the Road we will stop in various places and roast coffee and sell it at flea markets, swap meets and farmer markets. Roasting Coffee over the road = Over the Road Artisan Coffee. We are once again on an adventure doing what we love except this time it involves not only work but doing some of the things we love. Here are a few photos of what might be involved in that adventure.
